Bel Lago unveils tasting room renovations in grand re-opening

Bel Lago Vineyard & Winery is welcoming back the season with a grand re-opening event to showcase the renovated tasting room designed by the talented Rita Whaley.

People are invited to come enjoy food and drink specials this Saturday and Sunday along with live music. This event will take place at the main tasting room at Bel Lago Winery, 6530 South Lake Shore Drive, Cedar, Michigan 49621.

Builder John Kessel began renovations in the early winter of 2020 but the state of Covid-19 and supply chain interruptions caused delays in the process of this project.

Like many restaurants around Michigan, the pandemic forced businesses to think outside the box.

Bel Lago took this as an opportunity to create an updated space indoors while still offering outdoor services throughout the winter and early spring. A new fire pit, igloos and tents were installed to accommodate more guests and cultivate a serene outdoor environment.

In addition to a fresh tasting room, Bel Lago has been in the midst of a “brand refresh” updating their labels, logos, signage, and merchandise. As some might say, “new look, same great winery!”

Bel Lago vineyards and Winery earns its name from the tasting room’s picturesque view overlooking the beautiful vineyard and south Lake Leelanau, in the heart of Leelanau County. Founded in 1987, Bel Lago grows more than 100 varieties on 37 acres, selecting varieties that favor cool climates and express the rich soil of the area. In addition to the popular vinifera, varieties include Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer and Riesling. In addition to wine, Bel Lago produces several hard ciders.
