RD Winery, Napa’s first Vietnamese-owned winery, announces the release of Khoai, a new wine tier in its Hundred Knot collection. The first two Khoai releases include a pinot noir sourced from Gap’s Crown Vineyard and a chardonnay sourced from Durell Vineyard. A Napa Valley Oakville Ranch cabernet sauvignon will be released in 2022. Each Khoai wine is a delicately crafted expression that celebrates vineyards in Sonoma and Napa Valley with a history of producing the highest-caliber fruit and extraordinary wines. RD Winery is known for making wines that are complex and terroir-driven, and Khoai marks the release of the winery’s first high-end wines.
“Khoai is a reflection of our passionate commitment to making quality wines with a sense of place,” says RD Winery CEO Mailynh Phan. “Our wines are as diverse as the people who enjoy them, and we’re excited to introduce Khoai. These wines are only made possible through our winemaker’s close relationships with some of the area’s most quality vineyards.”
“We like to have fun, and we are also serious about what we do. Immense respect for the fruit ensures the site’s individuality and terroir are captured in the glass,” says Timothy Milos, winemaker for RD Winery. “Each of our labels plays a role in wine enjoyment, and Khoai shares the pinnacle of California terroir.”
Khoai (pronounced k’why) is named after the hero of the Vietnamese fable Hundred Knot to honor RD Winery’s Vietnamese heritage. Because of the high quality of each vineyard’s fruit, 2019 Khoai bottlings are very limited, with 160 cases of the pinot noir and 220 cases of the chardonnay. Khoai wines can be paired with typical French and Italian fare or Equatorial dishes like Peking duck or massaman curry.
RD Winery Khoai Pinot Noir and RD Winery Khoai Chardonnay are available to purchase online and in the winery’s tasting room. For more information, visit rdwinery.com/khoai-wines.
